4/4 Violin, Michel Deconet of Venice. £2,300
4/4 Violin, 358mm, believed to be an original Michel Deconet of Venice dated 175?. This violin had undergone extensive restoration prior to my work, and further improved by me.
Internal inspections suggest this may have been an original instrument by Deconet, but subsequent restoration and repairs, including a complete revarnish has unfortunately detracted from the original characteristics of the makers intentions.
Nevertheless, this violin is now restored to fully playing condition with retrospective work carried out on the bass-bar, neck and shoulder and internal surfaces. Strung with Thomastik Dominant strings, this now has a deep and warm resonance, typical of a violin of this age and pedigree.
